Chicago police were investigating after two people were shot on the city’s Near North Side, fire officials said Monday night. The shooting happened at around 9 p.m. on West Chicago Avenue near North Dearborn Street.

Nine people were shot, three fatally, and a woman was stabbed to death in separate incidents across Chicago Monday evening, police said.

A 29-year-old man died Sunday night after a physical fight on a Chicago Lawn street turned into a shooting, with three attackers drawing a gun and firing before running off, according to police. The confrontation happened around 10 p.m. in the 6100 block of South Campbell Avenue, where the man was standing outside when the group approached him.

A 35-year-old man was shot and killed overnight Saturday into Sunday in Chicago’s North Lawndale neighborhood.
